Hi there! We are currently in the development of a new 3D printed MX Hand Grip!
In order to deliver a better product to you, we are offering a beta version of the design for you to download completely free! All we ask is that you send us feed back after printing the design and letting us know what worked, what didn't work, and what materials you gave a try!
The material we are testing from Stratasys is the Flex TPE powdered resin, and we are seeing outstanding results so far, but this option has a steep price tag. The material from Shapeways we are testing is their Elasto Plastic and the price is reasonable for this printing option, but the Elasto plastic is not as "Elasto" as we would like it to be (We recommend waiting to print this option until we have updated this page with an actual "Shapeways" download link due to difficulty of actually installing it onto the handlebars). Finally, we are testing the "Rubber Like" TPU 92A-1 resin from Materialize (This material cannot be distributed in the United States due to Patent issues).
The images below are of the Flex TPE material printed by Stratasys Direct:
Update: After a couple weekends of track and trail riding with the Stratasys Flex TPE grip, we are quite please with the results. There is no major wear, and the grip seem to improve the ability to hold onto the bike. Luckily, we have not taken a spill yet, but this also means that the grip has not been crash tested! The picture below is of the grip after the 2nd weekend of riding.
